On February 17th and 18th Monster brought a couple hundred of our  best friends to the top of Grouse Mountain to check out some great  music and watch some events live on the big screen. Kid Sister came  out all the way from Chicago to throw down a live performance that  nobody there will soon forget. Even jaded industry types were on  their feet dancing to the breakout MC.

Djs over the two days included some of North America’s best including  Sammy Bananas from New York, Fashen from LA, Dave Nada, Neoteric, DJ  Spider, Thee Mike B, and for the fortunate few who saw it in the cabin, Mat the Aliens legendary video mix set.

Hayden rules at Quick Draw ISOC Canadian Nationals in Sarnia

Posted by: Jay Vaillancourt |

(Vaughan, ON, February 24, 2010)

Things unfolded nicely with a Pro Open win for Team Monster Energy-Yamaha-OTSFF Racing’s Iain Hayden at the ISOC Amsoil® Snocross Championship Series Quick Draw Canadian Nationals in Sarnia, Ontario this past weekend. In addition to campaigning the Quick Draw National, which counts towards the CSRA Canadian National Championship, Hayden also rode Round 7 of the ISOC National Series. Despite some problems with his goggles, he still pulled a noteworthy top-10 finish out of his sleeve in that division.
“It was another banner weekend for us with Iain getting lots of track time and the resultant television exposure,” said team owner/manager Andre Laurin. “His win in the Quick Draw ISOC Canadian National and top 10 in the ISOC National put the icing on the cake.”  Thanks to the city of Sarnia, which trucked in tons of snow to Hiawatha Horsepark so the races could proceed as scheduled, the ISOC event offered up top-notch competition that saw American, European and Canadian riders vie for podium finishes at the US/Canadian border town.

Hayden on top for Pro Open points class championship after one round

Posted by: Jay Vaillancourt |

The CSRA Snowcross Championship kicked off this past weekend at Searchmont Ski Resort in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. And with over two feet of snow dumped on the region it was an auspicious beginning to the season.

Team Monster Energy-Yamaha-OTSFF Racing was in full force at the event with Iain Hayden mounted on the potent four-stroke Yamaha FX Nytro®. After rigorous testing for the past month, Hayden and the entire crew were eager to get out onto the track and back into racing action. Durability tests had shown that the equipment was absolutely amazing and the weekend's results were proof positive that the team is ready to be a major title contender in the premier Pro Open division.

KILLING ON THE DANCEFLOOR ... A deadly Halloween Party

Posted by: Jay Vaillancourt |

Last week the team at Monster Energy and HIFI club sat in a circle and linked arms in the presence of a toothless clairvoyant. She instructed everyone to stare deep into her steamy Halloween cauldron and with a moldy crooked finger she stirred the pot until there was a ghostly dancer apparition.

The beautiful melancholy dancer spoke of the historical GRANDE theatre built in 1912 and how it’s one of the last few remaining pre-World War I buildings in Canada. She said there is no rest until she shakes it to the ground to a music menu featuring some of Canada’s most incredible party rockers including the MC and DJ duo of Thunderheist (you might recognize their track “Jerk It” from the 2008 critically acclaimed movie The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke).

Alongside Thunderheist will be the otherworldly turntable skills of Mat the Alien, bone crushing party rhythms of Smalltown DJs and casting spells on everyone will be Vinyl Ritchie who’s medium is records only – no digital music. And no parapsychology. Just real deal deadly dance floor anthems.

Rounding out the GRANDE THEATRES most haunting performance will be the supernatural Homebreakin' DJs featuring Wax Romeo, Lorne B and Cal Bass. Hosted by the fiery and lovely Miss Ange from the Vibe 98.5 fm.
