ROUND 3 “SEND IT” PARTY (EDMONTON, AB): Special Guests and Masquerades

Posted by: Joanna Majcherkiewicz |

This time around our roving band of motocross fans and party pushers settled into the Union Hall Night Club for Round 3 of the “SEND IT” party series. This write-up arrives before my headache has had a chance to depart. Self inflicted. Can’t blame it on anything but a concoction of good vibes and unexpected twists.

Our transition into the evening began with a limo ride courtesy of the Union Hall. I only mention it here because this service is available to the public --  and you might come across this fine travel vestibule in the Whyte Ave area if you keep your eyes peeled.

Round 3 of the MONSTER ENERGY MOTOCROSS NATIONALS

Posted by: Paul Rak |

(Castrol Raceway, Edmonton Alberta, June 21st)

As riders arrived on Friday and gazed at the pristine Castrol Raceway track, many were in awe of the dirt quality and high speeds this track will offer. After racing the track myself on Saturday, I knew that this would be the race to watch out of all the rounds so far.

The Pro practice on Saturday really showed the speeds that were possible. Surprisingly, as the day progressed, the Monster Energy Kawasaki Cernic’s Team was nowhere to be found. Finally the familiar faces of Paul and Jack Carpenter and Bobby Kiniry began to appear on track although too late for practice.

The team was not discouraged; only more excited to get the job done.

MX2 – Once again Canidae Motorsports/Monster Energy rider Dean Wilson dominated with a 1st overall. This was Wilson’s last stop on the Canadian Nationals tour and he will open the door for others to chase for the championship. Wilson is looking forward to the racing ahead of him in the United States.

Following closely and charging hard was Teddy Maier aboard the Leading Edge Kawasaki. Teddy is now sitting pretty in 2nd is looking forward to dominating the rest of the rounds as the series moves east.

MX1 – Finally some changes have been made to the podium!

Up until now Colton Facciotti has won every moto since this stop last year but his winning streak came to an end with fast performances by his teammate Dusty Klatt and Monster Energy Cernic’s team rider Paul Carpenter.

Round 2 “SEND IT” PARTY (CALGARY, AB): Lasers light up Snatch

Posted by: Joanna Majcherkiewicz |

This post comes on the eve of the Round 3 party. I’ll blame it on the 6 days it took to wipe the laser dust from my eyes. Snatch Nightclub, whose name can make even an exotic dancer blush, hosted the 2nd round of the SEND IT party series. Snatch is a beautiful big venue, lavishly decorated with rock n’ roll tapestry like motorbikes, snakeskin, leopardskin, zebraskin, and bare skin. And for this night only, a massive striking laser show; with lasers typical of large stadiums and even larger rock star egos. But this headlining act is made up of humble djs that are bestowed with mad skills. They stepped to the plate armed with 45s (7” records courtesy of DJ Vinyl Ritchie) and a donkey mask (courtesy of Mat the Alien). While most of the crowed was dancing feverishly and oblivious to the musical manifestation surrounding them there was a particular loyal audience present just for these guys. Hanging on to every scratch and juggle in particular was a young guy, and his birthday entourage, who turned 18 that exact day and arrived at the venue promptly at 9pm to not miss a beat. Legit! And not missing a beat, or anyone’s gaze, was Calgary’s premier radio personality Miss Ange, Canada’s famous breaks dj Mama Miche and their sassy female entourage. They were dressed like a bowl of festive fruit and summed up the fun dance vibe.

Now both the lasers and motocross schedule are pointed northward. The SEND IT Party, Round 3, unfolds at Union Rock Bar in Edmonton, Alberta. City of Champions, home of the 2nd largest mall in North America and 1st ranked dance floor on Saturday. See you at Castrol Raceway or among the lasers and hasers at Union Hall Nightclub this Saturday, June 20.

UNION HALL is located on Argyll and 99 Street (6240 99 Street NW).

Round 1 - Monster Energy Motocross Nationals

Posted by: Paul Rak |
Tagged in: Untagged

The season has begun. So much anticipation was felt in the pits as all the teams were prepping their athletes and bikes. Small bets were being past around, as to who would win the first moto or would get the whole shot.  Finally at noon the gates dropped and the 2009 season was under way.

MX2 – Canidae Motorsports/Monster Energy rider Dean Wilson did a great job showing everyone that where he left off in Walton last season was just the beginning. Wilson went 1 and 1 in his motos.
Following closely was Iowa’s Teddy Meier. Riding again for Leading Edge Kawasaki Teddy finished 3rd and 2nd with a third overall. Great start for both of these Monster Energy riders.
